Send .exe email attachments - Attach any extension file to email

Tipped by: Deadly Tips on 2009-10-17
Most of the corporate servers do not allow email attachments for certain file types. This is mainly done to avoid virus threat on office systems. Many software companies employ this method and simply filter such attachments / emails which has files of exe, zip, rar, bat, bin etc file types which are prone for virus attacks. If you really need to transfer such file from / to your work email, here is the workaround.
File attachment to email - send/download email attachment in any format

  1. Change your windows setting to show all file extensions.
  2. Now, remove the .exe or any such filtered attachment and change it to .pdf. PDF format is accepted in most of the servers as it usually represents a book or textual document.
  3. The recipient should do the exactly reverse process. Convert the .pdf file extension to .exe or whatever the original extension of the attached file.

Note: If recipient has no clue about the mail attachment, don't forget to mention details about the attached file in the mail body.
